Solid Waste and Recycling Disposal

Getting rid of household trash can be complicated these days.  Most landfills are closed.  Many disposal facilities limit themselves to commercial vehicles.  Further, many cannot accept items determined to be recyclable—the newest being construction and demolition debris.  Finally, some waste-to-energy plants cannot accept materials such as mattresses and couches, as the springs can foul their machinery.

Fairhaven does offer many options for its residents, including:

Many items can be brought to the Yard Waste and Recycling Drop-off Center, Arsene Street.  An annual permit is required, as well as fees for many items. Directions
