20 November 2016 - Boat Sink Photos

20 November 2016 - US Coast Guard Southeast Sector received a distress call from the The 72-foot scalloper Captain Jeff and reported that the boat was taking on water. The Coast Guard then dispatched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat and crew from its Menemsha station on Martha's Vineyard, along with a helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod. The Buzzards Bay Task Force, an organization of SouthCoast-area police, fire and harbor personnel with marine rescue capabilities, also responded. When rescue units arrived at the scene, they off-loaded the crew and began preparations to pump water out of the sinking vessel. The crew was taken to the Pease Park Boat Ramp in Fairhaven where they were met by Fairhaven Fire Department medical personnel and evaluated before being released. The vessel is in the process of being towed to a local boat yard for repairs. The accident is still under investigation by the US Coast Guard.
