24 November 2015 - Residential Fire Photos

24 November 2015 - 1:34 AM - Fire Department received a 911 call from the homeowner saying his house was on fire. 7 residents of the home safely evacuated the burning home, but 2 dogs perished in the blaze. Fire Department units were on scene for almost 5 hours. The home was completely destroyed. The Towns of Acushnet, Mattapoisett and the City of New Bedford Fire Departments provided Mutual Aid to the Fairhaven firefighters by assisting at the fire scene and manning the empty Fairhaven Fire Headquarters to handle other calls for assistance that might come in during the blaze. Both permanent and call firefighters fought the blaze and finally cleared the fire ground at approx 6:00 AM. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by the Fairhaven Fire Department and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshall's Office.
