New Hire Spotlight - Principal Assessor Dan Lane

The Town of Fairhaven is pleased to welcome Dan Lane as our Principal Assessor! Dan began working for the Town on September 19th.

As our Principal Assessor, Dan determines the fair market value of each property in town based on comparable sales of properties, is responsible for motor vehicle excise tax bills and boat excise bills, and acts on requests for exemption and abatement of taxes.

Dan has 24 years of experience in the assessing field, with 12 years in municipal departments and 12 years in the private sector. His diversified background includes various locations as he has served the states of Florida, Rhode Island, and Massachusettts. While Dan’s extensive work in the field has given him the tools to succeed, his position as the Principal Assessor for the Town of Avon has especially prepared him for this role.

After traveling for many years in the private sector, Dan was ready to serve a municipality again. He chose the Town of Fairhaven for the proximity to his home, and is looking forward to providing Fairhaven with fair and equitable assessments.
