Preview of Annual Town Meeting - 2022

In advance of Town Meeting, our precinct meetings and the Town Meeting preview will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Town Meeting members will meet in their precincts at 6:30 p.m. followed immediately by the Town Meeting preview.  The preview will take place in the Silveira Auditorium this year and the precinct meetings will also take place in the auditorium and adjacent classrooms.  At your precinct meeting, you will elect the chair, fill vacant town meeting seats and discuss matters important to your precinct, including any vacancies on the Finance Committee.  During the Town Meeting preview, we will run through all of the articles contained in the Annual Town Meeting warrant and elected and appointed officials will be on hand to answer questions you may have.

To ensure that precinct meetings are well organized and easily accessible, we have designated specific classrooms at Hastings Middle School for those meetings and for the morning of Town Meeting.   Below are the room assignments.  Each of the rooms is in the classroom corridor adjacent to the Silveira Auditorium.

Town Meeting orientation will also take place on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 and will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Silveira Auditorium. Whether you are a newly elected Town Meeting member or an existing Town Meeting member all are welcome to attend and learn more about the Town Meeting process and how it works.

You can also find Information about Town Meeting including warrants, minutes, etc. on the Town Moderator or Town Meeting member webpages.  The warrant and other information will also be mailed to you in advance of Town Meeting.

Also, to improve communication, an email distribution list for Town Meeting members was created for our remote meetings in 2020 and 2021.   We will continue to use the email list as a means to share information and updates about Town Meeting.  To add or update your contact information please click HERE.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

In consultation with the Health Agent, Town Counsel and the Precinct Chairs, the following precautions are strongly recommended for both the Precinct Meetings / Town Meeting Preview and the Annual Town Meeting:

  • Wear a mask unless speaking at the microphones.
  • Socially distance while seated – leaving one space between you and the next person.
  • Take an at home test before attending the meetings – the Board of Health has free at home test kits available.  If you test positive you should stay home.

You are encouraged to bring a mask from home but if you need one, masks will be available at the meetings.  Hand sanitizer will also be available for use.
