RE: Rate & Plan Changes for Medex & PDP Plans
Dear Retiree,
This letter is to inform you that the current rates for the Medex Two and Blue Medicare Rx plans (listed below) will not increase on January 1st, 2019:
CURRENT MONTHLY RATE
MEDEX & PDP (Individual) | $130.00 |
MEDEX & PDP (x 2) | $260.00 |
Blue Cross Blue Shield will be making some mandatory changes to the Blue Medicare Rx (PDP) formulary effective January 1, 2019. This is an effort to control the rising cost of prescription medication. These changes will allow BCBSMA to keep premium increases down. Some medications are changing tiers, moving from Tier 1 to Tier 2 or Tier 1 to Tier 3. This will result in higher copays for these drugs. In addition, some medications will no longer be covered. However, there will be alternatives available for each of these medications. If you need to continue with one of these medications, your physician can provide medical documentation for review and coverage determination.
The Town would like to invite you to an information session where BCBS representatives will be available to answer questions and review your specific prescriptions with you. The meeting will be held on Wednesday November 7th at 10 am at the Town Hall, 40 Center Street, First Floor meeting room, Fairhaven. Please feel free to bring your list of medications to review with the BCBS representatives.
Download the Blue Medicare Rx Formulary list with the medications that will be changing tiers on January 1st. Please refer to this list to identify if any of your medications are impacted by this change.
