Division of Marine Fisheries: Conditionally Approved as of sunrise on October 21, 2019

In accordance with Chapter 130, Section 74A of the Massachusetts General Laws, the Division of Marine Fisheries has determined that the below defined section of West Island North (BB:18.5) in the Town of Fairhaven does not meet the established water quality criteria for the classification of Approved with an open status due to unacceptable water quality. Therefore the classification of the below defined area will be changed to “CONDITIONALLY APPROVED” as of sunrise on October 21, 2019.
Therefore, under authority of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 130, Section 74A, the classification of the below-defined area has been changed to “CONDITIONALLY APPROVED” with a status of “Open to the taking of shellfish”. The below defined area may be opened to the harvest of shellfish for direct human consumption subject to local rules and regulations under authority of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 130, section 52.

Status: Open to the taking of Shellfishing from March 1st to January 31st

Bella Vista Cove Area
The waters, flats and all tributaries of that portion of Nasketucket Bay in the Town of Fairhaven, northeast of a line drawn in a southwestern direction from the southernmost tip of Bella Vista Island to the western end of Cherrystone Road on West Island.
