The Tree Warden is responsible for the town’s public shade trees under Massachusetts Genreral Law 87. This entails taking down diseased and dying trees along public byways, as well as planting new and replacement trees.
The Fairhaven Tree Departments Mission statement is:
To preserve, propagate and maintain a safe, healthy, tree canopy for the town of Fairhaven.
The Tree Department is staffed by a part-time elected Tree Warden and two part-time tree laborers who work 2 days per week.
Trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
Tree emergencies such as trees blocking a public way should be reported to the Fairhaven Police Department at 508 997 7421.
If a tree is on fire please contact the Fairhaven Fire Department at 508 994 1428.
Requests for planting, trimming, pruning or tree removals can be made by clicking here and completing the form or in person at the Select Boards office.
The Tree Warden is an elected position. Any inquiries about Town trees may be directed to the Tree Warden at firstname.lastname@example.org
Any Inquiries made to the Select Board's Office are forwarded to the Tree Warden.
