Dirty Water 2/5/2023

Please be advised that a contractor working for the City of New Bedford at Pope's Island drove a piling into a New Bedford Water Line.  As a result, we have been feeding the City of New Bedford water and will continue to do so until this repair is completed.  With yesterday's brutal temperatures, a New Bedford water line on Pope's Island ruptured causing dirty water to backflush into Fairhaven, specifically in the center of Town and behind the high school.  Please be aware that crews have isolated the line to prevent any additional water from backflushing and are hydrant flushing the aforementioned areas to remove sediment.

As always, should you experience dirty water, please do not use your hot water until the cold water is clear.
