Huttleston Marketplace: Opens June 1st
There will be arts and crafts, including pottery, woodworking, jewelry, knitted goods, photo note cards, original artwork and prints. There will be, hand woven items, t-shirts, and upcycled and repurposed household decor. There will be farm fresh produce, local eggs, honey, three bakeries, and some great food. There will be antiques and collectibles. There will be yarn, wreaths, walking sticks, soaps, balms, candles. There will be live music in the early afternoon.
Close to 50 booths will be set up when the second season of Fairhaven’s outdoor Huttleston Marketplace opens on Saturday, June 1, at 10:00 a.m. The marketplace is held on the lawn of the Fairhaven Visitors Center, 141 Main Street, at the intersection of Route 6, directly next door to Fairhaven High School. The hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and there’s free parking in the high school lots. It will continue to operate, rain or shine, every Saturday through September 1, except for June 29.
“Last year we started a vibrant outdoor shopping spot—part arts, crafts, and collectibles fair, part farmers market—that happens weekly through the summer months,” says Fairhaven tourism director Chris Richard, who organizes the market. “Besides being a great place to shop, it provided a venue for crafters, artists, and other compatible merchants to set up shop, so to speak.” Word of the marketplace had spread among vendors from southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Overall there are more than 80 vendors signed up to be here during the 2019 season, but not all of them will be at the market every week. The vendors will vary, so there are lots of reasons to stop by every Saturday.
On opening day, food vendors will include JA Patty with homemade Jamaican patties (meat, jerk chicken, veggie curry) served with sauce, hibiscus iced tea, Jamaican soda and snacks; the Fairhaven Lions Club booth with malasadas, linguica sandwiches, coffee and infused water; Mooseman’s Kettle Corn; and lots of fresh baked goods from Cyd’s Creative Kitchen, Captivating Twists, and Brenda’s Pastries and Cakes. The musical duo TRUUE will perform from noon to 2:00 p.m.

“The public coming here each week will see select, unique things for sale. There will not be any new mass-manufactured goods, multi-level marketing products, or garage and rummage sale items,” says Mr. Richard. “Shoppers will be supporting creative artisans from our own region.”
