A Message from Eversource 9/14/2018

In light of the unfortunate events that occurred last night in Massachusetts Eversource has issed the following message:

There have been several natural gas incidents in the Andover, North Andover and Lawrence areas of Massachusetts, impacting the Columbia Gas natural gas system.

Questions may arise from family, friends, neighbors and customers and here is some information that may be helpful in sharing:

• First and foremost, our thoughts are with the people impacted by these fires and we stand ready to support these communities.
• If you smell natural gas, leave the area and call 911 immediately.
• The natural gas system in the affected areas is owned by Columbia Gas.
• If you live in the Andover, North Andover and Lawrence areas of Massachusetts, please call Columbia Gas at 1-800-525-8222
• We stand ready to support Columbia Gas and first responders.
• In anticipation of a mutual aid request, we have activated our Incident Management Team (IMT) in Southborough, MA  
• Eversource is always working to keep you safe and continues to monitor our natural gas system.
• The Eversource natural gas system remains safe and ready to serve our customers.
• While Columbia Gas has experienced issues on their system, those issues are not impacting the Eversource gas distribution system.
• It’s too early to speculate on a cause.
