Recall/Special Town Election: July 26, 2021

A Recall/Special Town Election will be held in Fairhaven on Monday, July 26, 2021. Like other elections, polls will be open for registered voters from 10:00AM - 8:00PM. Important information regarding deadlines for requestions nomination papers, filing nominations papers, registering to vote, as well as requesting mail-in and in-person absentee ballots is below.

Important Information Regarding Mail-in/Absentee Ballots
 

Applying for Absentee Ballots
As always, Mail-in/Absentee ballots must be requested in writing by either the voter or the voter's family member. If you would like to request an absentee ballot, you may submit an application or a signed letter to the Town Clerk's Office. You can find the application in our office, on our webpage, on the Mass.gov website, or you can request one to be mailed to you.

IMPORTANT: 

• If you have already sent in a Mail-in/Absentee Ballot application for the 2021 election year, you may have indicated that you were requesting a ballot for the April Annual Town Election only, since it had been the only election scheduled for the year. If that is the case, and you wish to vote by mail for the July Special Election, you will need to send in ANOTHER application.
• If you sent your 2021 application and you indicated that you wanted a ballot for ALL elections this year, you DO NOT NEED to re-apply, however you might want to check that we have the correct mailing address listed, especially if you originally requested your ballot to be mailed to a different/seasonal address.

If you are unsure of your Absentee Ballot status, please feel free to call the Town Clerk’s office to verify, or simply send in another application by the deadline date.

Mail-in Absentee ballot applications (to receive a ballot in the mail) must be received as soon as possible, but no later than Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

In-Person Absentee ballot applications (to vote in the Town Clerk’s office) must be received by 12 p.m. on Friday July 23, 2021. In-person absentee voting should be arranged ahead of time.

If you are a voter with a permanent physical disability, you may file a note from your doctor to that effect with your local election official. Voters with permanent physical disabilities are sent completed applications at the beginning of each year, to be signed and returned to their local election official.

Applications may be submitted in person, by mail, fax, or by e-mail; however, the local election official must be able to view the signature of the person requesting the ballot. If the application is being submitted by e-mail, a scanned copy of the request must be submitted.

Voting
If you plan to vote by mail, be sure to submit your application as soon as possible. Please allow enough time for the ballot to be mailed to you and for you to return the ballot by Election Day. For your convenience, you may drop off your Mail-in ballot at the Town Clerk’s office, or simply drop it through the mailslot on the outside door on the east side of the front entrance to Town Hall.  All ballots being mailed from inside the United States must be received by your local election official no later than the close of polls on Election Day.
