Timothy Cox, Harbormaster Earns Shellfish Constable of the Year

The Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association has named Fairhaven Harbormaster/Shellfish Constable Timothy Cox the Shellfish Constable of the Year.

The association is a non-profit educational and professional organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the welfare of the shellfisheries in the Commonwealth. For more than 20 years, it has recognized shellfish constables who show great initiative and hard work for their local shellfisheries.

Cox was hired by the Town of Fairhaven in 2007 as the shellfish warden and in 2009 was appointed to the position of Harbormaster/Shellfish Warden.

Tim-cox-award-1“Harbormaster Cox has been instrumental in creating the new public safety marina at Union Wharf. He also built an upweller to grow quahogs from seed and made an oyster reef in Little Bay. Mr. Cox is well respected among his peers in the community for his work as Harbormaster as well his many volunteer efforts,” the association said in its release.
