Official Election Results 2021

The official results for the annual Town of Fairhaven Election, April 9, 2021, have been released. A total of 19.2% of registered voters casted their votes in the Town’s annual election on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Standing Selectman, Robert Espindola, won the Selectman race with a total of 1781 votes. Lisa Plante, who contested Espindola, totaled 494 votes. Espindola will hold his position for the next three years.

Voters reelected the two current School Committee members, Donna McKenna and Colin Veitch for another three years. McKenna and Veitch totaled 1301 and 129 votes, respectively. Cathleen Marchessault, a first-time candidate, contested the two members and tallied a total of 941 votes.

Kevin Gallagher took the three-year Board of Health seat with a total of 1620 votes over Barbara Acksen who received a total of 558 votes. 

Colleen Silvia will hold the three-year seat on Commissioner of Trust Funds with eight write-in votes.

Marcus Ferro and Robert D. Hobson will each serve on The Board of Public Works race with a total of 1263 and 1182 votes, respectively.

The Planning Board gained one new member and a returning member for two four-year terms. Cathy Melanson was reelected with a total of 1081 votes while David Braga will join the board with a total of 1275 votes. It also gained a three-year unexpired term member, Jessica Fidalgo, who totaled 1394 votes. Wayne Hayward will also serve on The Planning Board as a write-in candidate. Hayward totaled 60 write-in votes.

Ronnie Manzone was elected to the Housing Authority for a five-year term with a total of 1514 votes. Marc Scanlon was also elected to serve on the Housing Authority for a one-year unexpired term with a total of 1421 votes. 

Town Moderator, Mark Sylvia, was reelected for a three-year term with a total of 1610 votes.

In a close race, Don Collasius was elected for a three-year term as Tree Warden over G. Bourne Knowles IV, who was running for reelection. Collasius totaled 1076 votes, while Knowles totaled 1037.

Town Member votes are still being calculated and will be released once official.
